In the latest development in the ongoing clash between Epic Games and Apple, Epic claims that Apple is preventing Fortnite from being available on both the U.S. and European Union App Stores.
Following a major legal victory that forced Apple to allow developers to implement external payment systems in the U.S. App Store without paying commission, Epic Games submitted Fortnite for review on the iOS App Store on May 9, 2025. However, according to Epic, Apple failed to act on the submission for more than a week.
This delay led Epic to withdraw the request and resubmit a new version with updated content on May 14, 2025, aligning with their requirement to roll out weekly updates across all platforms simultaneously.
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney confirmed the issue, explaining that cross-platform synchronization is critical for Fortnite, which frequently delivers new content and updates.
Despite the new submission, Apple allegedly rejected it and has also taken steps to block the release of Fortnite in the European Union as well.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the official Fortnite account announced:
“Now, sadly, Fortnite on iOS will be offline worldwide until Apple unblocks it.”
This means that, as of now, Fortnite is unavailable on iOS devices across all regions.
TechCrunch has contacted both Epic Games and Apple for additional comments. Trendotech.com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
